Since the property is located in Pasco County, this commercial complex was designed using native species that have attractive foliage, flowers, or fruit.  Perimeter berms were planted with curvilinear hedges and drifts of ground cover to provide a low buffer between the parking areas and the adjacent roadways.  Trees emerge from the berm framing views of building entries and signage.  Canopy trees shade the interior portions of the parking and palms punctuate the green spaces adjacent to the building facades.  Planters along the buildings frontage are filled with selected exotic plants that introduce color and texture to the pedestrian experience.  Tough, slow growing species were used through out the project to reduce water demand and to reduce the need for maintenance.  A playful entry feature features three topiary horses frolicking through a drift of native grasses.

Various Eckerd Drug Stores – Throughout the state of Florida
The creation of a standard prototype landscape and irrigation plan for the State of Florida was part of our services for Eckerd Corporation.  Individual plant palettes were developed for north, central and southern parts of the state.  Hardy, drought tolerant, low maintenance species were chosen that would thrive in the urban environment that most stores are located.  Trees are specified in locations where they will not block signage or building entries.  The prototype plan favors use of masses of ground cover instead of small areas of isolated lawn that are difficult to maintain.  The plan is flexible enough that even the most stringent municipal Landscape code can be followed.  Anderson Lesniak Limited has produced construction documents for over 35 Eckerd stores located all over Florida.
